Know what every backlink really costs before you fill the form
Pantheon, our own SaaS, went from Domain Rating 0 to 6 in three days. BacklinkVet picked the directories, wrote a listing for each and filled the forms; we read each one and clicked Submit.
Directory lists say "free, dofollow", but at the last step of 140 of those forms, 93 wanted a badge, a fee, a link back, or published a link Google ignores. BacklinkVet keeps what we find in a catalog of 1,660 directories and launch sites: free, freemium or paid, the link their listings carry, their traffic, their traps. Your Claude picks the sites that fit your product, writes a different listing for each, fills the form in your Chrome and stops before Submit.
Get 10 free backlinks for your siteSend us your site. Within 48 hours you get 10 free, verified sites that don't link to you yet, each with the reason it fits. No card, no payment.
Our second product got 7 live dofollow listings in a single day. Every number on this page comes from our own two products, with dates, and you can open the listings yourself.
| Site | Found at the last step | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| semilaunch.com | free launch Free only with their badge or a post on X from an account with 200+ followers. It shows at step 3, after 3 required upvotes. | badge |
| UrAITools | free The free tier is a queue of about 231 days. The "permanent dofollow" link comes with the paid upgrades. | long queue |
| toolfinder.co | free Paid only, $19, and the site has moved to toolfinder.com. | paid |
| serchen.co.uk | free listing The free listing carries no link at all. The paid spotlight is nofollow and sponsored. | no link |
| aat.ee | dofollow Since October, new listings get a dofollow link only if you show their badge. | badge |
| fstlaunch.com | Free, and the link on published listings is dofollow. Our own listing went live the day we submitted it. | recommended |
The catch is at step 3 of the form
When I launched Pantheon, my ad research SaaS, I did what every launch guide says: grab a list of directories and submit to all of them. The lists promised hundreds of sites, almost all "free" and "dofollow".
So I opened the forms one by one, and the pattern repeated. The homepage says free. You write your tagline, your 160-character description, your long description, you pick categories, you upload the logo. Then step 3 asks you to put their badge in your footer, or to pay $19, or to wait seven months.
Directory lists are compiled from homepages. The truth sits in two places nobody on those lists looked at: the last step of the form, and the listings already published, where you can see whether the link is dofollow, nofollow, sponsored, or missing.
Then I read the published listings of 285 directories. 124 of them gave no dofollow link to the products they list.
If you work through a list like that, two forms out of three end in a badge, a bill you didn't expect, or a link that doesn't count. And you find out after you've written the description.
| Wanted their badge on our site to publish for free | 25 |
| Listing gave no useful link (noindex, sponsored or no link) | 20 |
| Paid, although the lists called it free | 12 |
| Nofollow link | 8 |
| Wanted a link back | 6 |
| Other: off topic, broken form, months-long queue | 22 |
A badge request isn't free. A badge is a link from your site to theirs, in your footer, on every page.
A link can disappear months later, and nobody tells you
Directories redesign, change their rules, switch listings to nofollow or quietly delete them. The first time we checked our own 22 listings, we found problems we didn't know about.
toolfound.com had put our listing in noindex: the link was there, but Google couldn't see the page. techtwitter.io returned a 404. On siftfox.com our listing was gone. lots.directory, which we had counted as a win, linked to us with nofollow.
Four problems in 22 listings, found on the first run. Without the check we would still be counting them.
| Site | Last check | Link |
|---|---|---|
| fstlaunch.com | link present | dofollow |
| queststack.io | link present | dofollow |
| toolfound.com | listing in noindex | dofollow, page hidden from Google |
| techtwitter.io | listing gone | HTTP 404 |
| siftfox.com | listing gone | no listing on the page |
| lots.directory | link nofollow | nofollow |
Every rejection explained, every live link checked again
BacklinkVet started as the agent I built to do that checking for my own products. It reads a site the way you would if you had the time: the traffic it really gets, the spam signals, the listings it already published and, when we submit, the form down to its last step.
Every site that fails gets a written reason, and the reason stays in the catalog. When we find that a directory asks for a badge, it drops for everyone. When it publishes a real dofollow link, it moves up.
What's left is a catalog of 1,660 sites out of the 2,456 we analyzed: 1,285 directories, plus launch platforms, review sites, marketplaces and communities. 1,129 are marked recommended. 531 are usable with a note you should read first, about the cost, the link or the access. We re-check the catalog and publish an update every week.
Not every site has been through the form by hand yet. 95 have their cost confirmed at the last step and 174 have their link read on published listings; traffic is measured for almost all of them. For the rest, the kit tells you exactly what to check before you write a word, and every check we make goes back into the catalog.
Your Claude does the part that has to be about you: it chooses the sites that fit your product and writes each listing.

Free when it's free, paid when it's worth it
Most founders start with free listings, and 936 sites in the catalog are listed as free. Some of the directories with the most traffic sell their best spots, though, and once you have a budget a paid listing can be worth more than another ten free forms. That money goes to the directory, if you choose to pay it, never to us.
So the catalog keeps the paid sites too. Next to each one you see whether it's free, freemium or paid and what link its listings carry, and we're adding the price of each paid plan as we check it. Some cost less than a lunch: Uneed's fast-track launch is $14.99, Launch Llama's Instant Launch $39 to skip a free queue of about four weeks. 261 sites in the catalog get more than 100,000 organic visits a month.
Google asks that links you pay for be marked sponsored or nofollow. Because the catalog shows the link each site gives, you know what you're buying before you pay.

From install to your first submission in one sitting
Install it in about 5 minutes
Accept the GitHub invite, clone the repository, run the installer. It adds four commands to Claude Code.
Next: Claude learns your product.
/backlink-profile reads your site
It writes your product profile: niche, languages, the facts you can claim and the claims to avoid. You check it once.
Next: today's sites.
/backlink-today picks the sites and writes the listings
Each site comes with the reason it fits you. Each draft follows that form's real fields and character limits, and is checked against your other listings so no two read alike.
Next: the form, in your browser.
Claude fills the form in your Chrome and stops
You read the listing, change what you like and click Submit. Captchas, email confirmations and logins stay with you.
Next: keep track.
/backlink-status and /backlink-check keep score
Where each submission stands, and whether each live listing still carries a dofollow link on a page Google can index. Run the check once a week; the self-hosted version runs it on its own.

The slow part of directory submissions was never the Submit button
By hand, most of the time goes before and around the form: finding sites worth the effort, discovering at step 3 that one wants a badge, rewriting your description to fit 160 characters for the twentieth time, typing the same fields again. AI Directories, a submission service, puts that work at 20 to 70 hours for 30 to 100 directories.
BacklinkVet takes those parts off your hands. What's left to you is reading each listing and clicking Submit, which is how we sent 14 submissions for Reveal Ad Spend in a single day, and how Pantheon went from Domain Rating 0 to 6 in three days.
A new domain needs its first links to get crawled and taken seriously. The sooner they're live, the sooner they start counting.
| Step | By hand | With BacklinkVet |
|---|---|---|

| Submit | you | you |

Same goal, two very different Saturdays
With a directory spreadsheet
You open row 37. The homepage says free. You paste the same description you used on the last twelve sites, crop the logo again, pick categories, and at step 3 it asks for a badge in your footer.
You close the tab and open row 38. By evening you have submitted to nine sites and you don't know which of them will ever publish, or whether the link will count.
Three months later you couldn't say which of those links still exist.
With BacklinkVet
You type one command with your coffee. The sites in front of you already passed the badge, price and link checks, and each one says why it fits your product.
The listing is already written for that form, in its character limits, different from the others. You read it, fix a word, click Submit.
On Monday you run the check, and it tells you all your live links are still dofollow, or exactly which one isn't.
We ran it on our own two products first
BacklinkVet is new, so there are no customer reviews on this page. What we have is our own results, with dates, and links you can open.
Open the listings and look at the link
These are Pantheon's 12 live listings with a dofollow link, the 7 from the agent's first week and 5 we had before. Open one, find the link to pantheon.ad, right-click and choose Inspect: there is no rel="nofollow" on it.
Checked by the link monitor on 30 Oct 2026. If one of them changes, it will show up in our next weekly check before it shows up here.

The whole system, on your computer or your server
The kit lives inside Claude Code. The self-hosted version is the dashboard I use every day for my own products, packaged in Docker. One command starts it, and your projects, drafts and keys never leave your machine.
It adds what you need when you run more than one product, or want a plan instead of a list:
- unlimited projects, each with its own daily queue and checked drafts
- discovery once a week: new sites for each project, from free sources
- the weekly link monitor, with alerts for links that go nofollow, noindex or missing
- SEO missions: a 12-week plan per project, about an hour a day, with the backlink of the day built in
- a connection to Claude Code or Claude Desktop, so Claude can read your queue and save drafts
- a dashboard in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish

What BacklinkVet won't do
Some of these are limits, some are rules we chose. All of them are better to know now than after you pay.
"Using automated programs or services to create links to your site" and "excessive link exchanges" are listed as link spam.Google Search Central, spam policies
- It doesn't guarantee links. Every directory decides if and when to publish you. Some reject, some queue you for months. The catalog tells you what to expect from each site before you submit.
- It never clicks Submit for you. It doesn't create accounts, type passwords, pay or solve captchas either. Sites that forbid automated submissions get a copy-paste sheet instead.
- It never pays for you and doesn't join link exchanges. Paid listings are marked as paid, with the link they give, and buying one is your call.
- It doesn't promise a Domain Rating, traffic or rankings. Directory links are a start for a new domain, and the SEO missions cover the rest of the work.
- The kit needs Claude Code (any plan) and the Claude in Chrome extension. The self-hosted version needs Docker. No Claude Code and no Docker: this isn't for you yet.
- The catalog is a file you could copy. What you pay for is the weekly re-check that keeps it true.
Pay once, get the updates for good
Submission services charge $99 to $249 to submit one product to 30 to 100 directories, once. You pay €29 once. Spread over the first year of weekly catalog updates, that's about 56 cents a week, and the updates keep coming after that at no extra cost. One month of Outrank costs $99.

Not sure yet? Try it on your site first
Write to us with your site and you get 10 free, verified backlinks within 48 hours: sites from the catalog that fit your product and don't link to you yet. Submit them yourself and see what the catalog is worth before you pay.
There are no refunds after you buy, because from the first day you have the whole catalog and all the code.
Get 10 free backlinks for your siteA directory list starts going stale the day it's published
aat.ee moved its dofollow link behind a badge in October. toolfinder.co moved to a new domain and charges $19. Directories change their terms without notice, and a list you download today is wrong in places before you reach row 200. We re-check the catalog every week and publish what we find, so fewer of those surprises reach you at step 3.
Meanwhile your domain is new. Every week without links pointing to it is a week Google has fewer reasons to crawl your pages, while your competitors' listings keep ageing on the same sites.
Later there will be a hosted version of BacklinkVet on a monthly plan. The kit and the self-hosted version stay one-time purchases: if you buy one now, you never pay a monthly fee and the updates are yours for life.
Before you buy
What do I get with the 10 free backlinks?
A list of 10 sites from the catalog that are free (we went through the form to the last step), give a dofollow link by their own terms or on the listings we've read, fit your product and don't link to your site yet. For each one you get the reason it fits and the link to its form. You submit them yourself. Ask for yours.
Do I have to skip paid directories?
No. Most founders start with free listings, and some paid ones are worth their price. The catalog marks every site as free, freemium or paid and shows the link its listings carry. Google asks that links you pay for be marked sponsored or nofollow, so check the link before you buy.
How fast will my Domain Rating go up?
We can tell you what happened to us: Pantheon went from 0 to 6 within three days of its first submissions. Your result depends on your site, on the sites you submit to and on how many of them publish you, so we don't promise a number. The catalog does point you to sites that publish quickly and give a dofollow link.
Which plan should I pick?
If you live in Claude Code and have one product, take the kit. If you run several products, want a dashboard, weekly discovery and the 12-week SEO plan, or you don't open Claude Code every day, take the self-hosted version.
Are links guaranteed?
No. Each directory decides whether and when to publish you. What BacklinkVet removes is the guesswork: before you submit you know the real cost, whether the free option has strings attached, and what kind of link published listings get.
Will Google penalize directory links?
Google's spam policies name link exchanges and links created by automated programs. BacklinkVet doesn't do exchanges, doesn't submit anything without you, and writes a different listing for each site. Directories in your niche, submitted one at a time by you, are ordinary launch work.
How much of my time does it take?
The install takes about 5 minutes. After that, the work left to you is reading each listing, clicking Submit, and handling captchas, logins and confirmation emails. The SEO missions in the self-hosted version plan about an hour a day, backlink included.
Which Claude plan do I need?
Any Claude Code plan, plus the Claude in Chrome extension for filling forms. The work runs on the Claude subscription you already have, which is why the kit costs €29 once and you pay us nothing else.
Does it work for products that aren't in English?
Yes. Claude answers in your language and writes each listing in the language of the site. The self-hosted dashboard is in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish.
Do I need paid SEO tools or API keys?
No. The kit and the self-hosted version work fully without any paid tool or API key, and there is nothing else to pay us. If you already have a DataForSEO account, the self-hosted version can also use it for discovery, with a monthly cap you set; that is optional.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. The kit keeps your profile, drafts and tracker in a folder inside your product. The self-hosted version keeps everything in its database on your machine. Nothing is sent to us.
How do updates work, and for how long?
For as long as BacklinkVet exists. The kit updates with one command, the self-hosted version with git pull. The catalog is refreshed every week.
Can I use it for my clients?
Yes, the license allows it. You can't resell the kit or the catalog, or use the catalog to run a competing service. The full terms are in the license.
Can I get a refund?
No. On the first day you get the whole catalog and all the code, so a purchase can't be given back. That's why you can ask for 10 free backlinks first and see how the catalog works on your own site.
